34th Street Art Murals

In ArtnDesign on October 10, 2010 at 4:57 pm

There’s a wall in Gainesville on 34th street that is usually covered with homemade messages and amateur graffiti. On my way home from work Friday, a flash of orange caught my eye: The wall was covered in murals. Really fucking good ones. I grabbed my camera to document them before they were covered and tagged.

But, I have no idea where these came from.

If you know, please tell me!

Below are several images that show what is normally on the wall.

  1. Holy smokes, those are awesome!
I was told they were UF art or design kids.
Makes me wanna go out and do some quality art on that wall!

  2. The murals were made by first year art students at UF as an assignment for the WARP course. As one of the students who worked on the murals, our assignment was to create visual metaphors that related to our lives. We were in groups of 6 and each group painted 2 murals that we designed ourselves. The first half of the murals went up Monday October 4 and the second half Wednesday the 5th. We were out painting each day from 9 am- 6 pm. Everyone put a lot of hard work in and had a great time! Enjoy!

  3. Yay my purple monster is up here! Anodine respect!

  4. Thanks for the shout out! My group and I worked on #9 😀
