“China Yearns to Form Its Own Media Empires”

In Uncategorized on October 20, 2009 at 1:36 am

Apparently it’s China week for me. But this is a media story, so, you know.

After decades of strict control, China is allowing some of its media elements to sell stock and control their operations more independently, hopefully allowing for growth that would rival Time Warner and Viacom.

Though its new facilities will remain under control of the Communist Party for obvious reasons, this freedom seems like a step in the right direction for commerce and will hopefully allow for more creativity to leak through.

More freedom always seems like a good thing to me, but it will be interesting to see how this will play out, especially in light of how programming is actually controlled and any unforeseen circumstances.
