“For Speech-Impaired, Insurance Fights Remedy”

In Uncategorized on October 19, 2009 at 12:29 am

Basically, this insurance company refuses to buy iPhones for people with speech disabilities because the iPhone can be used for things other than aiding in communication. However, the preferred device does not work as well as the iPhone and costs more than $8,000.

This is ridiculous. Insurance verifiers should have quite enough information from doctors, relatives and colleagues to determine whether or not someone has a valid speech impairment or not. And frankly, if someone goes to such lengths to get the $300 device, they deserve it on the basis of persistence and ingenuity alone.
