“Bad Luck Turns Good: That’s Rock’n’Roll”

In Uncategorized on October 15, 2009 at 3:07 am

Cartoonist gets fired. Cartoonist calls Eddie Vedder. Eddie Vedder says cartoonist can design next album cover. The rest will be history. But right now, it’s actually just one example of the result of the media upheaval.

I would have never thought to cover the story from this angle, but it turns out that these communication shifts really are the source of this relationship. The cartoonist wouldn’t have been fired if newspapers weren’t downsizing. And Vedder would probably not have totally control of the cover art if Pearl Jam wasn’t now a free agent, an outcome partially in response to the changing music industry.

Damn.

Cool!
